Finding Our Past at the Laurel Jones County Library

Recently, the Jones County Genealogical and Historical Organization (JCGHO) gathered at the Laurel-Jones County Library, and I had the pleasure of serving as the featured speaker. During the program, I introduced attendees to the many resources available in the Genealogy Department, along with a variety of genealogy and local history materials that can be borrowed from the library's circulating collection.

After an overview of our genealogy resources (please note that materials housed in the Genealogy Department are for in-library use only), I shared a fun "Top 10...Actually 11!" summer reading list featuring books available for checkout. These engaging local reads explore the rich history of our area through stories of local history, true crime, biographies, and legendary tales that bring Jones County and the surrounding region to life.
