A family group sheet is one of the best tools a genealogist can utilize.
If you’re not sure what a family group sheet is or have never gotten around to using one in your research, then you are not alone.
A family group sheet is a form you fill in with the names of two parents and their children. From this point, you can add birth, marriage, and death information for family members.
As a rule, I always create a family group sheet by hand as the first step in beginning my research process. I put as much information as possible on these sheets, and sometimes use them as cover sheets. I always have a copy to take with me while going on a research trip.

There are a number of pre-printed worksheets you can use, or if you want to customize a worksheet to fit your own line of research, then go for it. You can add whatever information you want to any worksheet.
